  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Friedrich Christian Anton "Fritz" Lang vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic contributions.

Filmmaker Friedrich Christian Anton Fritz Lang (December 5, 1890 – August 2, 1976) was an Austrian-German-American filmmaker, dubbed as the "Master of Darkness" by the British Film Institute. Lang's famous films include the groundbreaking futuristic Metropolis (1927) and the influential M (1931), produced by Seymour Nebenzahl, which tells a disturbing story of a child murderer (Peter Lorre) being hunted down and placed to given justice by Berlin's criminal underworld.

He partnered with his wife writer Thea von Harbou and co-wrote all of his movies, including Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler (1922) and the science fiction film Woman in the Moon (1929). Lang started filming The Testament of Dr. Mabuse at the end of 1932, when Adolf Hitler came to power. He fled by train to Paris after he divorced his wife and later worked on filming a version of Ferenc Molnár's Liliom in Paris, starring Charles Boyer, and signed with MGM Studios and made his first American film, the crime drama Fury (1936), starring Spencer Tracy. His film Scarlet Street (1945) is considered a central film genre, and the most famous film drama The Big Heat (1953), featuring stunts with Lee Marvin and Gloria Grahame. Brauner had worked a remake of The Testament of Dr. Mabuse which resulted to Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960).

In 1963, Lang appeared as himself in Jean-Luc Godard's film Contempt and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. He died from a stroke in 1976.
