  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Albert Lamorisse vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic contributions.

Albert Lamorisse (January 13, 1922 – June 2, 1970) was a French film producer, writer, and filmmaker who invented the strategic board game Risk in 1957, called La Conquête du monde, eventually picked up by Parker Brothers and sold in the United States. His first award winning short film White Mane (1953) tells a fable of how a young boy befriends an untamable wild white stallion. His best known work is The Red Balloon (1956), earning him the Palme d'Or Grand Prize at Cannes, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts: BAFTA Award, and an Oscar for writing the Best Original Screenplay in 1956.

Lamorisse also wrote the well-regarded films Stowaway in the Sky (1960), a family adventure film which features his ten-year-old son Pascal as the main character in the Circus Angel (1965), starring Philippe Avron as Fifi, Pierre Collet, Raoul Delfosse, and Georges Guéret. In the mid-sixties, Lamorisse shot parts of The Prospect of Iceland, a documentary about Iceland, made by Henry Sandoz and commissioned by NATO.

His documentaries includes Djerba (1947), Versailles (1967), Paris jamais vu (1967), and Le Vent des amoureux (1978), known as The Lovers' Wind. Unfortunately, while filming the documentary Le Vent des amoureux (The Lovers' Wind), Lamorrisse died in a helicopter crash tour of Iran in 1970 near Teheran. He remains the title of the only person to ever win an Oscar for the screenplay of a short film in 2013. He was married to Claude Jeanne Marie Duparc and had three children.
