  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Stanley Earl Kramer vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic contributions.

Stanley Earl Kramer (September 29, 1913 – February 19, 2001) was an American film director and producer responsible for topical social racism, like High Noon (1952), winner four Oscars. He was described by Steven Spielber as an incredibly talented and was recognized by Kevin Spacey as one of the great filmmakers of all time.

Kramer created his production company Screen Plays Inc. (renamed Stanley Kramer Company) in 1947, partnered with Herbie Baker, George Glass, and Carl Foreman. They produced the comedy So This Is New York (1948), directed by Richard Fleischer, followed by the box-office hit Champion (1949), about an ex-wrestler (the film won the Academy Award for Best Actor (Kirk Douglas) and Best Editing), and The Men (1950), featuring Marlon Brando with director Fred Zinnemann.

Kramer produced at Columbia some controversial films, such as Not as a Stranger (1955), The Pride and the Passion (1957), The Defiant Ones (1958) starring Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis, and On the Beach (1959), about a nuclear war, starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, and Fred Astaire.

His challenging film Inherit the Wind (1960) dealt with the subject of creationism and evolution and how they are taught in school, The Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), nominated for eleven Academy Awards and winner for Best Actor (Maximillian Schell) and Best Screenplay (Abby Mann), and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967). He was awarded the first NAACP Vanguard Award in 1998. He died in 2001 because of pneumonia. In 2002, the Stanley Kramer Award was created for provocative social issues recipients.
