  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Kenneth Anger vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Kenneth Anger is an American underground experimental filmmaker, author, and actor. He has made almost forty short films since 1937. His movie variously merge surrealism with homoeroticism and the occult. It has been described as elements of erotica, psychodrama, documentary, and spectacle. His first short film was Fireworks in 1947. When he moved to Europe, he produced a number of shorts inspired by the artistic avant-grade scene, such as Rabbit’s Moon in 1971 and Eaux Artifice in 1953. He has claimed that he was a child actor who appeared in the movie Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1935 as the Changeling Prince.

When Anger returned, he started working on several projects, including Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome in 1954, Scorpio Rising in 1964, Kustom Kar Kommandos in 1965, and the gossip book Hollywood Babylon in 1965.

He has published the books Hollywood Babylon in 1959, A History of Eroticism in 1961, Atlantis: The Lost Continent in 1970, Hollywood Babylon II in 1984, and Suicide in the Entertainment Industry in 2001.

Kenneth Anger has received awards: Maya Deren Awards in 1996, Silver Lake Film Festival for Spirit of Silver Lake Award in 2000, San Francisco International Film Festival for Golden Gate Persistence of Vision Award in 2001, Los Angeles Film Critics Association for Douglas Edward Independent/Experimental Film/Video Award in 2002 with Michael Snow for the film Corpus Callosum, and Anthology Film Archives for Life Achievement Award in 2010.

Kenneth Anger was born on February 3, 1927, as Kenneth Wilbur Anglemyer in Santa Monica, California.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Kenneth Anger movie posters includes a 30x40 of Kenneth Anger's Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome, an ultra-rare poster for the UK screenings of Kenneth Anger film, which was originally shown in 1954 and later re-edited/revised twice: once in 1966 and then again in 1978; the title comes from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's atmospheric poem "Kubla Khan"; the poster is a photo collage that includes images King Kong and Marilyn Monroe. Kenneth Anger poster collection also includes 1 Sheet (27x41) of Chafed Elbows & Scorpio Rising.
