  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Katharine Hepburn vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

American stage-film actress Katharine Houghton Hepburn (May 12th, 1907 – June 29th, 2003) was a Hollywood leading lady for more than 60 years and recognized in the Guinness World Records book for "Most 'Best Actress' Oscars Won". The classic Hollywood actress was a tomboyish beauty, noted for being a spirited performer whose strength of character and brisk New England accent saw her talent range from screwball comedy to literary drama.

Hepburn, who liked to call herself “Jimmy”, began to act while studying at Bryn Mawr College. Her early years in film flourished including an Academy Award for Best Actress for Morning Glory (1933). Released in 1942, Hepburn played the romantic comedy Woman of the Year about a political columnist threatened by her self-centered independence. The icon received her fourth Academy Award nomination and signed a star contract with MGM.  Katharine Hepburn won four Academy Awards and received 12 Oscar nominations for Best Actress. Definitely, she was one of the most celebrated figures and was named by the American Film Institute the Greatest Female Star of Classic Hollywood Cinema in 1999.

In March 1993, not long after her final screen appearance, her health began to deteriorate. The classic actress was hospitalized with pneumonia and showed signs of dementia in her final years. In May 2003, an aggressive tumor was found in Hepburn's neck and she died from cardiac arrest on June 29, 2003, a month after her 96th birthday. Katharine Hepburn was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford with no memorial service as per her request.
