Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction action movie directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen, and screenwritten by Michael Crichton and David Koepp. The cast of the movie includes Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough, Jeff Goldblum, Martin Ferrero, Bob Peck, Samuel L. Jackson, and BD Wong. 

Jurassic Park is set on the fictitious island of Isla Nublar, situated in Central America's Pacific Coast near Costa Rica, where a team of genetic scientists and a wealthy businessman created a wildlife park of once extinct dinosaurs. When a greedy employee sets out to sabotage the operation, a tragic shutdown of the park's security precautions and power facilities occurs. As a result, a small group of visitors and the businessman's grandchildren must survive and escape from the dangerous island with dangerous prehistoric creatures on the loose.

The dinosaur adventure film was a huge success critically and commerically. Steven Spielberg had another huge box office under his belt, with the film grossing over $1.033 billion. It also became the highest-grossing film of 1993 and the highest-grossing film ever at the time.

Jurassic Park won three awards at the 66th Academy Awards for Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects. In 1993, the movie also won Best Director, Best Science Fiction Film, Best Special Effects and Best Writing at the Saturn Awards.

The film earned a place in film history as one of the greats, and most frequently referred to as one of the greatest movies of the action and thriller genres by film critics and industry professionals. The American Film Institute cited Jurassic Park as the 35th-most thrilling film of all time in 2001. In 2004, Empire magazine's 15th anniversary issue deemed Jurassic Park the sixth-most influential film in the magazine's lifetime.
