Original Vintage Movie Posters @ Film/Art Gallery

Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Judy Garland vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Judy Garland is an actress, singer, vaudevillian, and dancer. With 45 years in the business, she gained international stardom as an actress in both musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist, and on the concert stage. Known for her versatility, she was given an Academy Juvenile Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Special Tony Award, and was the first woman to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for her live recording at Carnegie Hall.

Although her film career was not consistent, two of Garland's most critically acclaimed roles came later in her career: she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her acting in A Star Is Born (1954) and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). She also made concerts, released eight studio albums, and hosted her own Emmy-nominated television series, The Judy Garland Show (19631964). Garland became the youngest and first female to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in the film industry, at the age of 39.

Garland suffered in her personal life from an early age. The pressures of early stardom affected her physical and mental health from the time she was a teenager and throughout her adulthood she was overpowered by alcohol and substance use disorder as well as financial instability, often owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes. Her lifelong struggle with substance abuse ultimately led to her death.

Film/Art Gallery’s Judy Garland movie poster collection includes a rare poster of the all-time 1939 classic, Wizard of Oz. Also included is the music Judy Garland poster 1968 performance at Lincoln Center Philharmonic Hall. Artwork by Seymour Chwast, this poster is in the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
