Grey Gardens is a 1975 documentary film directed by Albert and David Maysles. The film is also directed by Ellen Hovde and Muffie Meyer, and produced by Susan Froemke. They are also credited as the film editors.

This incredible, true to life film shows the secluded everyday lives of a mother and daughter who were formerly upper-class women, Edith "Big Edie" Ewing Bouvier Beale and Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale, both related to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The former American Royalties live in squalor in their 28-room East Hampton mansion, in the wealthy Georgica Pond known as "Grey Gardens”. Hiding inside their flea-infested house, inhabited by cats and raccoons for more than 50 years, they reminisce about their dazzling past. Big Edie was a born in a high society where she trained soprano in her bohemian days. "Little Edie" was a hopeful actress of salient beauty who put her New York life on hold to care for Big Edie and never left her side again. Together they live in an odd life of dependence that no one had ever looked into until they met the Maysles Brothers who shared their lives to the world.

The film is a poignant love story, a documentary of the strong and complicated relationship between mother and daughter.
