Grease is a 1978 American musical romantic comedy film written by Bronte Woodard and directed by Randal Kleiser. It is based on the 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

The film centers the lives of two lovers, greaser Danny Zuko and Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson who are drawn to each other.

Olivia Newton-John plays a girl named Sandy who met a pleasant boy over the summer, enjoying a romance at the beach, at the same time upset that she would never see him again once she went back to Australia. Surprisingly, her family’s plans changed and Sandy shows up at the local high school where Danny (John Travolta) attends school. Startled to see Danny, she got curious as to why he pretends to be super-cool in front of his gang buddies, while being dismissive of her. Danny is secretly still in love with her.

The film puts emphasis on male identity, peer pressure, race, sex and rock’n’roll.

Grease was successful as it became the highest-grossing musical film ever at the time. Its soundtrack album became the second-best-selling album of the year in the United States.

Film/Art Gallery's Grease movie poster collection includes a rare "wilding" poster (without credits) for blockbuster musical.

Grease posters are also found under the Musical collection which includes movie posters from the wildly acclaimed musical, The Sound of Music. Also included are the prints for the Oscar-winning musical, La La Land, featuring an image of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone exiting stage door and the international style for the classic children's musical, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
