Original Francis, Freddie Movie Posters
Freddie Francis movie posters from his directorial work on Paranoiac, Nightmare, and Dracula Has Risen from the Grave represent original British horror theatrical paper from one of the genre's most technically accomplished practitioners — a two-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer who brought exceptional craft to Hammer and Amicus productions. Shop our collection of original formats.
British quad and one-sheet formats from Francis's directorial work are seldom found in fine condition; many of his horror productions received limited theatrical runs with modest print volumes, and surviving examples in bright, undamaged condition are genuinely difficult to source. His Hammer and Amicus productions — including Paranoiac (1963), The Evil of Frankenstein (1964), and Tales from the Crypt (1972) — each generated distinctive horror campaign artwork. First-release British quad examples from these productions are horror collecting priorities.
Francis's dual career encompassed both his critically lauded work as a cinematographer on films by David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, and Jack Cardiff, and his prolific British horror direction. The contrast between the restrained visual quality of his cinematography work and the vivid exploitation imagery of his horror direction produces a particularly varied collecting field. His Hammer posters in particular — printed using the bold illustrated style typical of the studio's output — represent some of the finest examples of British horror poster art.
