For Your Eyes Only is a spy film released in 1981 and is the twelfth film within the Bond series produced by Eon Productions. It also the fifth film to starred by Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond, and the first film by John Glen as a director. He worked as editor and second unit director on three other Bond films.

007 is ordered to recover a communication device, referred to as an A.T.A.C., which went down with a British spy ship because it sunk. Bond must hurry though because the Russians also are out for this device. He meets Melina Havelock on his travels, whose parents were brutally murdered. Bond also encounters Aristotle Kristatos and Milos Colombo. Each of them is accusing the other of having links with the Russians. Bond must team with Melina, uncover his true allies, and find the A.T.A.C. before it's too late.

For Your Eyes Only was released in the United States on June 26, 1981, and released to a mixed to positive critical reception. The film's reputation has improved over time, with reviewers praising the more serious tone. The film was a financial success, generating $195.3 million worldwide. This was the ultimate Bond film to be distributed solely by United Artists
