  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Marlene Dietrich vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Marlene Dietrich, original name Marie Magdalene Dietrich, also called Marie Magdalene von Losch, (born December 27th, 1901 in Schoneberg, now Berlin, Germany) is a German American motion-picture singer and actress whose voice, beauty, aura of sophistication, and languid sensuality made her one of the world’s most alluring film stars Hollywood has ever seen. Her career ranged from the 1910s to the 1980s.

In 1920s Berlin, Marlene Dietrich began her career as an actress in silent films and on stage. Her performance as Lola-Lola in The Blue Angel (1930), brought her international recognition and a contract with Paramount Pictures. Dietrich starred in various Hollywood films such as Shanghai Express (1932), Morocco (1930), and Desire (1936). She victoriously traded on her glamorous persona and "exotic" looks and became one of the highest-paid actresses of her generation. Throughout World War II, Marlene Dietrich was a prominent entertainer in the United States. Although she still made irregular films after the war such as Witness for the Prosecution (1957), Dietrich spent most of the 1950s to the 1970s traveling through the world as a marquee live-show performer.

Marlene Dietrich was also famous for her philanthropic efforts during the war, housing French and German exiles, providing financial support, and even campaigning their American citizenship. For her contributions to improving morale on the front lines during the war, she accepted multiple honors from the United States, France, Belgium, and Israel. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Marlene Dietrich the ninth greatest female screen legend of classic Hollywood cinema.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Marlene Dietrich movie posters include a British poster of the film Just a Gigolo which stars David Bowie in the titular role, with a cast that includes Kim Novak, Marlene Dietrich and David Hemmings (who directed). Also included is a Marlene Dietrich poster (printed in Paris) for appearances by the legendary entertainer. The artwork is by Rene Bouche, the noted artist, and fashion illustrator - was also featured on the cover of the 1961 book "Marlene Dietrich ABC".

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
