Original de Arminan, Jaime Movie Posters
Jaime de Armiñán movie posters from his Spanish productions of the 1970s and 1980s are authentic original documents from one of Spain's most distinctive — and most chronically under-represented — bodies of work in the international cinema poster market. Find original Jaime de Armiñán campaign materials from his El amor del capitán Brando, Mi querida señorita, and related productions.
Spanish theatrical posters of the post-Franco transition period — in which de Armiñán's work played a significant cultural role — were printed by Spanish lithographic houses in formats specific to the domestic market: the standard large Spanish format at approximately 70×100cm supplemented by smaller regional and display sizes that vary across producers. The original Spanish posters for El amor del capitán Brando (1974) and Mi querida señorita (1972) feature the warm illustrative style typical of Spanish commercial graphic production of the transition era. These are among the genuinely undervalued items in the European cinema poster market: Spanish collectors of this material are active but the international auction circuit has only recently begun to represent the Transition-era poster catalogue adequately. Fine flat examples in undamaged condition are scarce outside Spain. Lobby cards and promotional stills from these productions survive in modest numbers through Spanish specialist dealers.
