Original Curtis, Dan Movie Posters
Dan Curtis movie posters document some of the most atmospheric Gothic horror television and film production of the 1970s — original theatrical paper with a visual identity shaped by candlelit chiaroscuro and a roster of character actors who defined the era's horror aesthetic. Find original Dan Curtis campaign materials for his Dracula adaptation with Jack Palance, his made-for-television horrors, and his theatrical productions.
The theatrical one-sheets for his 1974 Dracula — starring Jack Palance in a performance that re-established the Count as a genuinely menacing figure — are striking examples of early-70s horror poster design, featuring painterly illustration rather than the photographic montage that became standard later in the decade. Lobby cards from his theatrical productions capture the candlelit atmosphere of his visual style in the 11×14 format, and complete sets have become difficult to source as collectors of 70s horror paper have absorbed available supply. Insert cards with the horizontal format offer a different compositional cut of the same artwork. His television productions — Dark Shadows, The Night Stalker — generated advance one-sheets and window cards for theatrical-style promotion that circulated in limited quantities, making them rarer than standard studio-release material. British quad versions of selected titles reflect the strong UK appetite for Gothic horror in the period.
