Kenneth Anger’s Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1966) is a short 38 minute film. Anger was motivated to make the film after attending a Halloween party called "Come as your Madness”. The film gained cult film status. The film was regularly presented in American universities and art galleries during the 1960s to 1980s. The Original version of this game was created on 1954, the one created in 1966 is a an edited version known as 'The Sacred Mushroom Edition'. The film reflects Anger's deep interest in Thelema, the philosophy of Aleister Crowley and his devotees “The Scarlet Woman”. A concept of a ritual charade party where attendees dress as gods and goddesses served as a direct inspiration for the film.

Purple Rain (1984), an American rock musical drama film directed by Albert Magnoli. Prince played the film himself, his acting debut playing “The Kid”, a character based in part on Prince himself. Purple Rain was developed to showcase Prince's talents, and the film encompasses several concert sequences. The Kid is the talented but troubled vocalist of Minneapolis based band “The Revolution”. To escape his problematic home life, where his mother is emotionally abusive and his father is verbally and physically abusive as well, he devotes his days practicing and rehearsing day and nights before performing at the First Avenue nightclub.

The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) is an American black and white drama film, based on the novel of Nelson Algren by the same name. It tells a story of a drug addict who gets clean while in prison, but he struggles to stay that way in the outside world. Even if the drug that he is addicted to is never mention in the film, according to the American Film Institute, "most contemporary and modern sources assume that it is heroin".
