The 1967 film You Only Live Twice, starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond and directed by Lewis Gilbert. The film is about an American NASA spacecraft Jupiter 16 hijacked from orbit by an unidentified spaceship. The United States accused it to be the work of the Soviets, but the British suspect Japanese participation since the spacecraft, after having "swallowed" Jupiter 16, landed in the Sea of Japan. MI6 operative James Bond is sent to Tokyo to investigate. The movie is directed by Lewis Gilbert.

Jaws (1975) an American thriller film base upon Peter Benchley's 1974 novel Jaws and directed by Steven Spielberg. During a beach party on the fictional Amity Island, a young woman named Chrissie Watkins goes skinny dipping in the ocean. While treading water, she is violently pulled under. The following day, her partial remains are found on shore. The medical examiner's ruling that the death was due to a shark attack leads police Chief Martin Brody to close the beaches, inciting police Chief Martin to hunt it with the help of a marine biologist and an expert shark hunter, Quint, who was offered $10,000 for his service.

Alien (1979), a fiction of science horror film based on a story by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Directed by Ridley, it revolves around the crew of a commercial space tug Nostromo upon returning from a trip back to Earth with a seven-member crew. They received a transmission from nearby moon LV-426. The ship's computer, Mother, awakens the crew. Company policy requires any potential distress signal be examined, so they land on the moon, sustaining damage from its atmosphere and rocky landscape. Brett and Parker makes damaged repairs on their ship while Dallas, Kane, and Lambert head out to investigate. They realize the signal comes from a derelict alien ship and enter it, losing communication with the Nostromo. Ripley interprets part of the transmission, determining it to be a warning, but cannot relay this information to those on the derelict ship.
