  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original The Bride Wore Black (La Mariee Etait en Noir) vintage movie posters. Film/Art Gallery offers a wide range of movie posters and artwork for one of cinema's ultimate Romance Thriller films.

The Bride Wore Black (French: La Mariée était en noir) is a 1968 French film directed by François Truffaut. The film is based on the novel of the same name by William Irish, a pseudonym for Cornell Woolrich. It stars Jeanne Moreau as Julie Kohler, Charles Denner as Fergus, Alexandra Stewart as Mlle Becker, Michel Bouquet as Coral, Michael Lonsdale as Clément Morane, Claude Rich as Bliss and Jean-Claude Brialy as Corey.

It is a revenge film in which a widowed woman hunts the five men who killed her husband on her wedding day. She wears only white, black, or a combination of the two. Each time Julie is seen, her appearance is different and she hunting all the men who killed her husband.

The film received hostile criticism in France with its original release, and Truffaut later admitted that he no longer liked the film, and that the critics were right. Eventually, the movie received better reviews over the years.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Bride Wore Black (La Mariee Etait en Noir) movie posters include a rare alternate style in 1 Sheet (27x41). It also includes an Italian version of Bride Wore Black (La Mariee Etait en Noir) poster.

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
