Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of orignal vintage Big Wednesday movie posters. Film/Art Gallery offers a wide range of movie posters and artwork for one of cinema's ultimate coming-of-age surfing films.

Big Wednesday is a 1978 American coming-of-age film directed and written by John Milius with his friend and fellow surfer, journalist Denny Aaberg. It was inspired by a short story Aaberg had published in a 1974 Surfer Magazine entitled "No Pants Mance" about the lives of a group of friends who used to surf with Aaberg and Milius.

The picture stars Jan-Michael Vincent as Matt Johnson, a self-destructive type who has a devil-may-care attitude, William Katt as Jack Barlowe the calm and responsible one of the bunches, and Gary Busey as Leroy "The Masochist" Smith, whose nickname tells a lot about his personality.

Their surfing lives are traced from the summer of 1962 from their attempts of dodging the Vietnam War draft in 1965 (including faking insanity, homosexuality, and different medical ailments), to the end of their innocence in 1968 when one of their friends is killed in Vietnam. The three make the tough transitions to adulthood with marriage, surf trips, parties and the aforementioned Vietnam war.

The film premiered in wide release in the United States on May 26th, 1978. The picture was screened at various film festivals, including the Davao City Film Festival in the Philippines and the Turin Film Festival in Italy.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Big Wednesday movie posters include an International Style in a very fine condition.
