  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Yannick Bellon vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless feminist cinematic creations.

Yannick Bellon, original name Marie-Annick Bellon, was a French editor, filmmaker, and screenwriter. Initially known for her documentary outings, she made her debut feature film Quelque part quelqu’un (or Somewhere, Someone) in 1972. She made numerous feature films like L'amour violé (or Rape of Love) in 1978, with its feminist insights, and Les Enfants du désordre in 1989, expressing the difficulties a drug addict experiences when trying to return to normal life.

Bellon was born in Biarritz, France on April 6th, 1924. Her parents were Jacques Bellon, a magistrate, and Denise Simone Hulmann, a photographer. She married a journalist, Henry Magnan, in 1954, but they divorced in 1963. The French feminist is also the sister of the playwright and actress Loleh Bellon.

After studying for just a year at the Institute des Hautes études cinématographiques, Yannick Bellon worked as a film editor, Myriam Borsoutsky’s assistant on several documentaries, and on cartoons by Albert Dubout. She helped film director Nicole Védrès with her Paris 1900. The first-ever film she produced on her own was Goémons in 1947, a documentary telling how the inhabitants of the island of Béniguet use their local seaweeds. The documentary won the Grand Prix at the Venice Biennale in 1949. In 1950, she made a documentary about the French author Colette.

Yannick Bellon created production company Les Films de l'Équinoxe in 1972, while concentrating on directing a series of feature films. Her works were made to demonstrate the approach of highlighting women’s liberation in La Femme de Jean in 1974, cancer in L'Amour nu in 1981, and homosexuality in La Triche in 1984.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Yannick Bellon movie posters includes the film Somewhere, Someone (Quelque Part Quelqu'un). Our Yannick Bellon poster collection is available in French Small (23x32) size.
