Original Vintage Movie Posters @ Film/Art Gallery

Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jean-Jacques Beineix vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Jean-Jacques Beineix, born in Paris, France on October 8th, 1946, is a French filmmaker. His work is generally seen as the best example of what came to be called the cinéma du look, a French film movement of the 1980s and 1990s. The cinéma du look has a look that refers to the films’ high investment in non-naturalistic, self-conscious aesthetics, notably intense color and lighting effects. In 2006, Beineix published the first volume of his autobiography, Les Chantiers de la Gloire.

Beineix started his career in 1964 as assistant director for Jean Becker on the famous French TV series Les Saintes chéries until the end of 1967. In 1970, he worked for Claude Berri, while in 1971 he worked for Claude Zidi. The filmmaker made his first short movie Le Chien de M. Michel in 1980, which won the first prize at the Trouville Festival. In 1980, Jean-Jacques Beineix made his first feature film, Diva, which won four Césars and entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. His second feature film, Moon in the Gutter, was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1983's Cannes Festival; it was also nominated for three Césars in 1984, winning the Best Production Design category.

In 1986, French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Beineix directed Betty Blue. It won various awards, like the 1986 Montréal World Film Festival’s Grand Prix des Amériques and Most Popular Film in the Festival, and in 1987, the Boston Society of Film Critics award for best foreign-language film, and won one, Best Poster, of the nine Césars for which it was nominated. The Golden Space Needle Award was awarded to him by the 1992 Seattle International Film Festival for Best Director on the strength of Betty Blue and IP5: L'île aux pachydermes.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Jean-Jacques Beineix movie posters includes Betty Blue in French 1 panel (47x63). Our Jean-Jacques Beineix poster collection also includes Diva, a 1981 French thriller film.
