Agnes Robertson Moorehead was born on December 6th, 1882. She was an American actress whose 41-year career included work on radio, stage, film, and television. She is best known for her role as Endora on the television series, Bewitched, but she also had remarkable roles in films, including Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, Dark Passage, Show Boat, All That Heaven Allows, and Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

The Hollywood actress rarely played lead roles, but her skill at character development and scope earned her two Golden Globe Awards and won Primetime Emmy Award, and in addition, nominations for four Academy Awards and six Emmy Awards. Agnes Moorehead was the first woman to host the Oscars ceremony. She also won acclaim for drama and comedy upon her transition to television because of her ability to play many different types, although she often portrayed arrogant haughty characters.

In 1937, Agnes Moorehead joined Orson Welles' Mercury Players, as one of his principal performers along with Joseph Cotton. She had a regular role opposite Welles in the serial The Shadow as Margo Lane and performed in his The Mercury Theatre on the Air radio adaptations.

In 1941, Agnes Moorehead made her film debut as the mother of main character, Charles Foster Kane, in Citizen Kane, considered by most film critics as one of the best films ever made.
