Addison Powell was an American actor who played various roles in television, stage, and film including Dark Shadows, Three Days of the Condor, and The Thomas Crown Affair. He was notable for portraying a mad scientist, Dr. Eric Lang, on Dark Shadows. Dark Shadow aired on ABC from 1966 until 1971. The Hollywood star was born in Belmont, Massachusetts on February 23th, 1921. His parents were both school teachers, Edward Henry and Kathrene. After graduating from Boston University, Powell enlisted in the US Army Air Force as a navigator during World War II. In 1948, he got his second degree from Yale School of Drama after the war ended. Addison Powell died at the age of 89 on the 8th of November in 2010 in Shelburne, Vermont, USA.
The classic actor appeared in films like The Mating Game in 1959 with Debbie Reynolds, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud in 1975, and The Rosary Murders, a murder mystery film in 1987. He also appeared in numerous television series like the first season of Law & Order and The Mod Squad, and Gibbsville in 1976. He co-starred in the 1977 television film, Contract on Cherry Street, with Frank Sinatra and Martin Balsam; Powell acted as a detective in the film. He also appeared in the miniseries War and Remembrance as Admiral Harold Stark in 1988.
