Hello from Hollywood. We have a great lineup, including the French CONTEMPT poster above, but first a few words about two Greats. It seemed like Maggie Smith - here on her best poster, for TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT - would never die. And now who will do all the Maggie Smith parts? Great in comedy and drama, and I love her even more after recently reading about a 1990s vacation with Judi Dench, where they "drank constantly, all day, every day, from breakfast Bloody Marys till bedtime".
As for Kristofferson - what a life! Published author and star athlete at college, Rhodes Scholar, Army helicopter pilot and then a few years of struggle before major success as a songwriter. He was still riding that wave when he got cast in the starring role of CISCO PIKE (1971), and during the next decade, no actor was in more films by "New Hollywood" auteurs: Hopper, Scorsese, Mazursky, Peckinpah, Cimino. He was in one of the decade's biggest hits (A STAR IS BORN) and its most notorious flop (HEAVEN'S GATE). A true artist, style Icon, all-around legend and one of the good guys. RIP Kris.
