  • The Best Film Art of 2025

One Battle After Another Original Vintage Movie Poster

If 2025 has proven anything, it’s that movie posters can still stir real excitement. In a year stacked with blockbusters, some of the most memorable storytelling happened before the lights even dimmed.

The list of best film posters of 2025 showcases an impressive lineup that includes two rebooted classics like “Frankenstein” and Naked Gun,” an Oscar-worthy performance by Leonardo DiCaprio in “One Battle After Another,” and the highly anticipated sequel to one of the decade’s biggest films — “Wicked.”

Let’s take a look at our favorites from what has been a standout year for film art.

    “Frankenstein” (2025) Movie Poster

It was only a matter of time before another adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic made its way to the screen. And who better to interpret it than Guillermo del Toro? His fascination with the supernatural, the mysterious, and the macabre makes him an ideal steward for Shelley’s Gothic fiction masterpiece.

However, designing a poster for a story that has captured the collective imagination for a little over two centuries was no small task. Artist James Jean rose to the challenge with a clear vision. In a poetic reel, he describes painstakingly hand-crafting each element of the poster from a corresponding frame of the film: “Like flowers blooming from a rotting corpse, the film was a vast bouquet of visuals, and I plucked at them greedily.”

The resulting image is rich with symbolism. At its center stands the creature, back flayed open, sprouting the wings of an angel. Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac), reaches out to pin down a butterfly. Elizabeth Lavenza (Mia Goth), draped in white, descends the creature’s spine as though it were a staircase. Scattered throughout the composition are coded references to life, death, and the thread that binds them.

Few novels have been adapted as films and art with as much enthusiasm as Shelley’s work, from Young Frankenstein to The Bride of Frankenstein and countless reinterpretations in between. Over time, the monster has appeared as a man, a woman, and even a beast.

Now Jean’s art, featuring del Toro’s C-3PO-inspired creature, comes in as a worthy addition to this long lineage of imagery — and a must-have for serious collectors.

    “Wicked: For Good” Movie Poster

Last year’s musical fantasy Wicked made a mark on the box office, claiming two Oscars, for production and costume design. The poster for the 2025 follow-up, Wicked: For Good, would clearly need to do some heavy lifting to keep the excitement going.

Earlier this year, we were rewarded with this — a dramatic, emotionally charged composition that visually captures Elphaba and Glinda’s eventual destinies. On one side, we see Glinda (Ariana Grande) bathed in warm light, standing atop a cliff, her gown glistening an iridescent purple. On the opposite cliff stands Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), framed by green clouds. She wears her iconic hat and cloak and holds up a broom.

Floating between them, etched into the clouds, is the tagline: “You will be changed,” a reference to one of the most recognizable songs from the original Broadway musical. Behind the central characters, Emerald City towers in the distance, neatly completing the “W” — a recurring motif across both films’ artwork.

While this is just one of many posters released for this much-awaited installment, it’s easily the most recognizable and likely to be a fan favorite for years to come.

“One Battle After Another” Movie Poster

One of this year’s biggest films came from Paul Thomas Anderson — a filmmaker not necessarily known for playing it safe. That’s why it was surprising when the film’s early posters felt a little restrained, relying almost entirely on Leonardo DiCaprio’s face to sell tickets. That is, until the poster featuring Teyana Taylor was released.

Dressed in flannel and khaki fatigues, rifle barrel braced against her huge pregnant belly, Taylor commands the frame with a fierce expression and a wide, unshakable stance. It’s a startling, arresting image; you simply don’t forget a pregnant woman firing a gun, after all. The poster radiates power, defiance, and an undeniable intensity.

If that wasn’t enough to draw attention, the cast list across the top certainly will. With Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, and a clearly formidable Teyana Taylor sharing the screen, the film is expected to dominate the coming awards season

The poster, meanwhile, is well on its way to becoming the kind of artwork collectors prize long after a film leaves theaters.

    “Sinners” Movie Poster

When the first few posters of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners came out, audiences were confused. Was this a vampire movie? A horror flick? A Western? In truth, Sinners is all of those things and more, considering it is one of 2025’s most acclaimed masterpieces.

The standout artwork from all the promotional posters shows us a lively Southern fête, and a tagline that reads, “It’s gonna be a real ring‑a‑ding‑ding!” The scene immediately evokes a spirit of community, joy, and nostalgia, as though we have been transported straight into the heart of a juke joint.

The image is inspired by Ernie Barnes’ iconic painting The Sugar Shack (1976), which is a sort of cultural touchstone for the Black community. The piece was also famously used as the cover art for the Marvin Gaye album I Want You. Its soulful vibe instantly resonates as a heartfelt tribute to Black culture, while the bright red hue conveys that something more sinister is taking place in the background.

    Honorable Mention: Naked Gun (2025)

No matter where you stand on the issue, there’s no avoiding the massive debate over the proliferation of AI-generated images in 2025 film art. Some say it spells the end of human creativity, others argue it’s a necessary step into the future.

Earlier this year, the 2025 reboot of Naked Gun offered its own cheeky take on the issue.

Liam Neeson, who reprises the iconic Leslie Nielsen role, features in a poster that captures the franchise’s absurd humor perfectly. We see Neeson holding a gun — with about three extra fingers — under the tagline, “No AI was used to create this poster.” This is an obvious lie, given the number of “fingerprints” he’s leaving behind.

The goofy poster gives us an immediate idea of what to expect from the film. Some critics have called it outrageously funny, although fans of more highbrow humor may disagree.

Either way, it’s clear this is a standout example of 2025 film art — both a nod to one of cinema’s most beloved franchises, as well as a comment on one of the biggest technological phenomena of our time.
