Romy Schneider was a German-French actress. She began her career at the age of 15 in the German Heimatfilm genre. She moved to France, where she became succesful and was critically distinguished with some of the most notable film directors time.

Her debut film was When The White Lilacs Bloom Again in 1953 at the age of 15. Her success came from her portrayal of Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the film Sissi in 1955 and its two series, Sissi-The Young Empress in 1956 and Sissi-Fateful Years of an Empress in 1957. 

Schneider was nominated at the Bambi Awards in 1957. She also received Bronze in 1957, Gold in 1958, Silver in 1959, Silver in 1971, Bronze in 1972, and Bronze in 1977 at the Bravo Otto Awards. She also received the Best Foreign Actress award at the Etoile de Cristal for the film The Trial in 1963. She was also nominated for Best Actress - Motion Picture Drama for the movie The Cardinal at the Golden Globe Awards in 1963. She also won at the Cesar Award for Best Actress for the movie L'important c'est d'aimer in 1975 and Une histoire simple in 1978, and she was nominated for the film Une femme à sa fenêtre in 1976, Clair de femme in 1979, and La Passante du Sans-Souci in 1982. She earned Best Actress for the film Group Portrait with a Lady at the Deutscher Filmpreis in 1977. Schneider also received the 1979 Lifetime Achievement at the Premio David di Donatello and also Honorary Cesar Awards in 2008.
