American artist, cartoonist, and science fiction author Charles William Rotsler (July 3, 1926 – October 18, 1997) was a renowned four-time Hugo Award winner and a one-time Nebula Award nominee recognized in the United States. Rotsler’s achievement started from 1958 in the pornography industry, as a stills photographer on the set of adult films and later as a film director and even actor. In 1966, he created Adam Film Quarterly, or Adam Film World, a magazine which featured female nudity and simulated sex acts which provided commentary about simulated pornography. His coverage of sexploitation films earned him a reputation as a writer and a pornographic photographer.

Rotsler used pseudonyms for his appearances, like Shannon Carse, Cord Heller, Clay McCord, and Merrill Dakota. He made an interview about himself and aim high for his career in Boxoffice International Pictures in the 1980s, he was a cameraman for the Hollywood segments Destination Series, hosted by Bill Warren, although occasionally he appeared on camera. He wrote a contemporary erotic Cinema which was published by Ballantine and Penthouse about pornographic movies from an aesthetic point of view in 1973.

Rotsler's created a fan art cover to the fanzine The Acolyte (14, 1946) and received The Rotsler Award, after his name, which is given annually at Loscon by the Southern California Institute to recognize lifetime work of outstanding fan artists, and it comes with a $300 honorarium. Rotsler and his collaborator Sharman also enjoyed a humorous appearance in Daredevil (Marvel Comics series) until his death on 1977 in California, USA.
