Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Pierrot le Fou vintage movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for one of cinema's ultimate romance and drama films.

Pierrot le Fou is a 1965 French film directed by Jean-Luc Godard. It stars Jean-Paul Belmondo and Anna Karina. The film is centered on the 1962 novel Obsession by Lionel White. It was Godard's tenth feature film, released between Alphaville and Masculin, féminin.

Uninterested in his wife (Raymond Devos), Ferdinand Griffon (Jean-Paul Belmondo) exhausts of his stationary life. But when the couple hires a mysterious babysitter, Marianne Renoir (Anna Karina), Ferdinand falls head over heels in love with her and deserts his family. He soon learns, however, that his mistress is not who she seems. Chased by foreign thugs, Ferdinand and Marianne steal a car and get on on a crime spree through the French countryside all the way to the Mediterranean.

Pierrot le fou is one of the high points of the French New Wave with its delightful color imagery made by cinematographer, Raoul Coutard and Belmondo and Karina at their most animated. It was also Godard’s last frolic before he moved much further into radical cinema.

It was the 15th highest-grossing film of the year with a total of 1,310,580 admissions in France. The film was designated as the French entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 38th Academy Awards but was not accepted as a nominee.

Film/Art Gallery's collection of Pierrot le Fou movie posters includes the first Japanese release poster for the 1965 Godard film.
