Anton Leader was a film director and production manager. He is know for the films Virginian in 1962, starring Doug McClure, James Drury, and Lee J. Cobb, The Twilight Zone in 1959, starring Rod Serling, Robert McCord, and Jay Overholts, and Star Trek: The Original Series in 1966, with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley.

He won the 1965 Western Heritage Award for the direction of the drama The Virginian, for the episode “The Horse Fighter”. The series has gained several awards, including Trofeu Imprensa (Brazil) for Best Series in 1966; it won the Western Heritage Awards for Bronze Wrangler in 1968, for the episode “Bitter Autumn”, and for the episode “The Horse Fighter” in 1966. The movie was also nominated for Writers of Guild of America, USA for WGA Award in 1970 for the episode “The Virginian: Black Jade(1969)”; It was also nominated for Writers Guild of America for the WGA Award for the episode, “The Virginian: The Horse Fighter(1965)”

The Twilight Zone received 9 wins and 14 nominations. It won Golden Globes in 1963, Primetime Emmy Awards in 1960 and 1961, Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films in 2011, Hugo Awards in 1962, and an award from the Online Film & Television Association in 2005. It was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Awards in 1961, 1962, and 1963, an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films in 2012, an American Cinema Editors award in 1962, an Directors Guild of America award in 1960, a Hugo Award in 1963, an IGN Summer Movie Award in 2010, the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award in 2010, and the Writers Guild of America award in 1961 and 1962.

Star Trek: The Original Series received several awards and nominations: Primetime Emmy Awards for Governor’s Award in 2018; Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA in 2005; Golden Camera, Germany in 1999; Guinness World Record Award in 2016; Hugo Awards in 1967 and 1968; Online Film & Television Association in 1997; TV Guide Awards in 2013; TV Land Awards in 2003; Writers Guild of America, USA in 1968. It was also nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards in 1967, 1968, and 1969, Hugo Awards in 1967 and 1968; International Film Music Critics Award (IFMCA) in 2013; Television Critics Association Awards in 2009, from 2012 to 2016; TV Land Awards in 2006, 2007, and 2008; Writers Guild of America, USA in 1968 and 1969.

He was the producer for the CBS Radio’s Suspense from 1948 to 1950. He was also the director of the syndicated radio program “Murder at Midnight” from 1946 to 1947

Anton Leader was born as Anton Morris Leader in Boston, Massachusetts on 23 December 1913 and died in Los Angeles on July 1, 1988. He was married to Rosalind Palca in 1944 until his death.
