He directed his drama film Infidelity American Style (1967), written by Sean Martin and Eugene Price (screenplay), starring Brooks Cunningham, Joanna Mills, and Peggy Steffans.

Johnsen’s The Secret Society (1965), starring Judy Adler and Darlene Bennett, explores sex clubs, specifically those who are members of a national sex club known only as the "Secret Society," where girls receive no money for their services, doing it for entertainment . The film used hidden camera type shots and focuses on the cold realistic environment in sex clubs.

His acclaimed crime film is Teenage Gang Debs (1966), screenplay by Hy Cahl and starring Diane Conti, Linda Gale, and Eileen Dietz. The film is about a Manhattan girl who moves into a neighborhood that is the turf of a female teenage gang, the Rebels.
