Goodfellas is a 1990 American biographical crime movie screenplay by Nicholas Pileggi and Scorsese, produced by Irwin Winkler and directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a film adaptation of the nonfiction book in 1985, Wiseguy by Pileggi. The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, and Paul Sorvino. The movie was a huge success and a box office hit grossing $46.8 million domestically. 

The film was awarded the Silver Lion for Best Director, Audience Award, and Filmcritica "Bastone Bianco" Award at the 47th Venice International Film Festival. It was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress, and it won Best Supporting Actor for Joe Pesci. It also received five nominations at the Golden Globe Awards. The movie won 5 nominations at the British Academy Film Award, such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Costume Design, and it was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Actor. It was nominated at Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Feature, Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and César Award for Best Non-French Film. 

Goodfellas is ranked 92 on the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies in their 10th Anniversary Edition list in 2007. In 2012, the Motion Picture Editors Guild registered Goodfellas as the fifteenth best-edited film of all time. In the same year, Sight & Sound polls ranked the film as the 48th-greatest film ever made in the directors' poll. Goodfellas is ranked 39th on James Berardinelli's 2014-made list of the top 100 films of all time. In 2015, the film placed 20th in the 100 Greatest American Films on BCC's list, voted on by film critics from around the world.
