English rock band The Beatles (1960) were formed in Liverpool, led by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, with George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The band is considered the most influential rock and roll traditional pop music group of all time. Lennon, together with McCartney and Harrison, started as a skiffle group trio since 1958, performing with Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best, until Starr joined them in 1962. Their manager Brian Epstein shaped them professionally with George Martin as their producer. They made their first hit "Love Me Do" in late 1962, nicknamed as "the Fab Four" and dubbed with the term "Beatlemania". They became international with their film debut A Hard Day's Night (1964) and produced the albums Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), "the White Album"(1968), and Abbey Road in 1969. Some of their greatest songs include “While My Guitar Gently Weeps (1968)” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand'' and “Can’t Buy Me Love" in 1964. The group founded Apple Corps in 1968, until their break-up in 1970 and became solo artists.

The Beatles hold the record on UK Albums and Billboard Hot 100 Charts with seven Grammy Awards, Best Original Song Score for Let It Be (1970), four Brit Awards, and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Time magazine’s 20th century's 100 most important people. Lennon was killed in 1980, Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001, while McCartney and Starr remain musically active.
