Pierre-Alain Jolivet was born on May 15, 1935, a French director. He attended the Center d'Art Dramatique on rue Blanche and Cours Dullin, under the direction of Jean Vilar.

Jolivet was also a theater director and author of several plays. He directed five films, one includes a Jean Racine’s tragedy, Berenice, in 1968, a French film starring Anna Gael as Berenice, Bernard Verley as Titus, Josee Destoop as Phenice, Jean Lescot as Antiochus, and Jean-Daniel Ehrmann as Paulin. The movie was produced by European Film Production Company (CEPC). He then directed The Grand Ceremonial in 1969, a French film under the production of Alcinter. The movie stars Ginette Leclerc as the mother, Michel Tureau as Casanova, Marcella Saint-Amant as Syl, Fernando Arrabal as the lingerie seller, Jean-Daniel Ehrmann as Syl’s lover, and Roger Lumont as the man in the train. In 1971, he directed a French short film, Ca, under Dovidis Production. The film was portrayed by Louis Valentin as Louis and Nathalie Vernier, the fiancée. He directed The Punishment in 1973, a Franco-Italian film based on Xaviere's story. The stars of the movie are Karin Schubert, Georges Geretl, Amidou, Claudie Lange, Marcel Dalio, Anne Jolivet, Francois Leccia, Rene Camoin, Jean Lescot, Francois Maistre, Albert Augier, Jean-Pierre Maurin, Jacques Destoop, Jackie Rex, Raphaele Devins, Jean-Louis Durher, Booklie Binkley, Anne-Marie Coffinet, Henri Deus and Marc Doelnitz. His last film was High Surveillance, sometimes referred as Black Mirror, a French-Canadian film, in 1982 by Miranda Productions-Pierre Caro Production - Canadian Film Development Corporation. The cast of the movie were Louise Marleau, Alberta Watson, Lenore Zann, Francoise Dorner, and Carolyn Maxwell.
